Clay Club Policies

Studio Policies

  1. Do not wear clothing or jewelry that hangs off the body.

  2. Do tie your hair back if it is long.

  3. Do not wear open-toed or open-heeled footwear (i.e., flip-flops, sandals, or clogs) in the studio.

  4. Do not use any equipment if you're unsure how to use it. Check in with one of our instructors on shift.

  5. All completed work must be picked up from Clay Club no later than 8 weeks after the work has been fired. Clay Club is not responsible for any work left longer than 8 weeks. It is the member's responsibility to pick up their work. Finished work cannot be stored at the studio.

  6. Clay is not transferable between sessions.

  7. Participants cannot take clay home due to health and safety hazards.

  8. Small pieces (less than 2 inches in diameter) will not be glazed.

  9. We will not be able to fire or repair work that is broken. It is easier remake the piece.

  10. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy against harassment and discrimination. Anyone who violates this will be asked to leave the premises immediately.

Dress Code:

As we will be working with clay, please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting messy. While the clay washes off easily and won't stain, it's best to dress comfortably. If you have long nails, you might want to consider trimming them beforehand, as long nails can make working with clay more challenging.

Footwear:
Please ensure that you wear closed-toed shoes. Closed-toe shoes are recommended in pottery studios to protect feet from potential hazards, such as falling tools or pottery pieces, and to provide better traction on potentially slippery surfaces. They also help prevent cuts, bruises, and other injuries from sharp or dropped objects. In the wintertime, please consider bringing a pair of shoes to change into to help keep our floors clean.

Personal Items:
We provide microfiber cloths for drying your hands, but you’re welcome to bring your own hand towel if you prefer. As clay is not safe to dispose of down the drain, we’ll have designated buckets for rinsing your clay-covered items before heading home.

Materials:
Clay and tools will be provided for this class. If you wish to bring any additional tools, you are welcome to do so.

Parking:
Free street parking is available after 6 PM on weekdays and on Sundays. There is also a paid parking lot located behind Dragon City Mall, just a short distance up the street.

Location:
Our studio is located at 110 3 Ave SE, in the Chinese National League Building, in Chinatown. We are on the main floor, and the doors will be unlocked, so feel free to come right in! If you get to the studio early, you're welcome to hang out or grab a coffee/tea beforehand. â€‹â€‹
